BIOGRAPHY
For more than 20 years, Greta has represented and advised commercial and specialty insurers in complex coverage disputes in jurisdictions across the United States.
Having served as lead coverage attorney and counsel for large commercial and specialty underwriters, Greta has a unique understanding of the substantive legal issues and resolution strategy for coverage issues arising in underlying clergy abuse, environmental and mass tort, construction defect, advertising injury, media productions, and professional liability matters. She regularly represents clients in coverage litigation related to health care, attorney malpractice, cyber liability, Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), toxic torts, public entity liability, and COVID-19.
Clients view Greta as a trusted advisor on underwriting, policy interpretation, agency, bad faith, statutory, and regulatory issues.

Before Nicolaides
Previously, Greta served as Managing Attorney of the U.S. Coverage Litigation Group for a multinational insurance company. In this regard, Greta represented the insurer as lead attorney in coverage litigation related to a wide breadth of underlying claims, such as those of abuse, environmental, health care, media production liability, attorney malpractice, construction defect, cyber liability, Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), occupational accident, public entity, and COVID-19. As Managing Attorney, Greta was also responsible for developing and driving strategies for successfully resolving coverage litigation matters and managing a team of coverage attorneys and support staff.Before that, Greta worked for two other large insurance commercial companies as Coverage Counsel for the Corporate Legal Department and Senior Litigation Attorney for the In-House Coverage Groups.
Earlier in her career, Greta served as an attorney in the insurance practices of three commercial litigation firms in Dallas, Texas.

In her spare time, Greta enjoys figure skating, tennis, attempting to snow ski, running, and spending time in the mountains with friends and family.EXPERIENCE
- Obtained judgment on the pleadings that fees and penalties exclusion barred coverage for attorneys general consent decrees in underlying multi-million dollar healthcare data breach matter
- Obtained summary judgment on basis that policy’s exclusion for “products-completed operations hazard” barred coverage for lawsuit arising out of injuries caused by defects in cosmetic lip implantations produced by insured
- Obtained summary judgment on basis that employer’s liability exclusion barred coverage
- Obtained summary judgment based on application of pollution exclusion
- Won appeal on justiciability issues pertaining to underlying pollution claims, resulting in policy buyback for a nominal amount
- Represented large commercial insurer’s underwriting entities in coverage dispute involving underlying Catholic Diocese abuse litigation
- Obtained dismissal of coverage litigation involving underlying Catholic Diocese abuse litigation
- Obtained summary judgment and recovery of $300,000 in construction defect coverage lawsuit
- Obtained summary judgment in directors and officers (D&O) coverage dispute based on insured v. insured exclusion
- Obtained summary judgment on related claims issues in relation to underlying attorney malpractice claims
