Thomas E. Placzek and Lauren B. Wynne Are Among the 16 New Attorneys the Firm Has Added in the Last 12 Months

Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP is pleased to announce that Thomas E. Placzek and Lauren B. Wynne have joined the firm’s Chicago office as associates.

About the Attorneys
 
Tom draws on his civil litigation experience to offer clients guidance and recommendations on complex insurance coverage issues and disputes before and during litigation. An avid problem-solver and strategic thinker, Tom strongly advocates for clients, always aiming to present a swift, successful resolution. Tom joins Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP from a Chicago-based litigation firm, where he represented hospitals, physicians, and nurses, among other health care providers. Tom’s practice involved pre-litigation investigation and counseling and providing guidance, recommendations, and risk management strategies. Before that, Tom represented long-term care facilities at a defense firm in Chicago. Admitted to practice in Illinois, Tom earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law and his B.S. from Texas Christian University.
 
Lauren counsels insurers regarding coverage issues and represents insurers in litigation relating to claims arising under cyber, fidelity, directors, and officers (D&O), errors and omissions (E&O), and commercial general liability (CGL) policies. In addition to her insurance coverage practice, Lauren is an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Lauren was previously an associate in the Chicago office of a national litigation firm, where she focused her practice on insurance coverage litigation and counseling. In this capacity, Lauren drafted coverage opinions and position letters and assisted in coverage litigation by drafting briefings, pleadings, and written discovery. Before that, Lauren was a judicial law clerk for Presiding Judge Grace Dickler in the Domestic Relations Division of the Cook County Circuit Court, researching and drafting memoranda, orders, and opinions for judges in the division. Admitted to practice in Illinois, Lauren earned her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and her B.A. from Boston University.
