While attending the University of Illinois College of Law, Sam participated on the Trial Team for the 2015-2017 national competitions.

Before Nicolaides

As a law clerk, Sam researched and analyzed various legal issues related to directors and officers (D&O), commercial general liability (CGL), and professional liability policies. He prepared briefs on various topics regarding agency, commission payments, and contract interpretation.

Before attending the University of Illinois College of Law, Sam worked as a client relations liaison, where he coordinated efforts to meet the day-to-day demands of international clients, developed relationships for potential business opportunities abroad, and presented educational seminars on cutting-edge topics for local vendors.

Outside Nicolaides

Sam enjoys trying different foods and taking short, weekend getaways to visit his friends in various cities across the country. Although he has not yet mastered any particular sport, Sam enjoys playing volleyball, softball, and water polo and is an avid hockey fan. He is also fluent in Chinese (Mandarin).

EXPERIENCE
  • Obtained summary judgment, and affirmance at appellate level, based on the trial court finding that a constellation of claims relating to the insured’s abandonment of cathode ray tubes in rented warehouses did not fall within coverage of the client’s pollution liability policy on basis that the claim was made prior to the policy period, the alleged clean-up costs were not because of a pollution incident, the alleged pollution incidents at one property were before the retrospective date, and two exclusions applied.
